Okay, so I know that we're not quite at peak pumpkin season just yet, but as I sit here writing, on what can only be described as a grey and miserable mid-September morning, there's a definite autumn feel in the air. Pumpkin picking season is indeed just around the corner and speeds towards us at lightning pace! Wellington boots at the ready anyone?
Longer autumn nights make me want to nest. Thoughts of cosy evenings snuggled up with a fluffy blanket and a steaming hot cup of tea, candles lit, and a good book in hand come to mind. As cliched as it sounds, I crave comfort.
When designing my product range for Yorkshire Bess Creates, comfort was at the heart of the process. I wanted my garments to feel cosy and warming, and my home accessories to evoke tranquillity and relaxation. The luxuriously soft merino wool that I use gives me a perfect canvas.
My hand knitted pumpkins were designed to bring an element of fun to my collection. I want my decorations to spark joy and raise a smile. Yorkshire Bess Creates is about celebrating the seasons, and arguably, can it even be autumn without at least one pumpkin in your home? As soon as October hits, my fireplace is decorated with all things pumpkin, and like a giddy child, I eagerly share photographs of any new pumpkin themed additions with anyone who will listen!
Despite knowing that high street stores are already saturated with pumpkin regalia, I remained determined to include hand knitted pumpkins in my first collection. I am biased, but these squishy decorations give a little something extra than store bought offerings.
